Copper

Copper is the backbone of electrification. It is used across power grids, construction, electrical systems, electronics, transport, renewable energy, electric vehicles, data centres and industrial machinery. Almost every major technology trend that depends on electricity also depends on copper.
For explorers, copper remains one of the most compelling commodities because the demand story is broad, durable and difficult to substitute. Historic porphyry, IOCG, VMS and sediment-hosted copper systems can be re-ranked using modern geophysics, geochemistry, structural interpretation and data science. Projects that were drilled or mapped under older economic assumptions may deserve fresh attention in a world being rebuilt around electricity.

Tungsten

Tungsten brings the portfolio into the realm of extreme-performance materials. Known for its hardness, density and ability to perform under high temperatures, tungsten is used in cutting tools, wear-resistant components, mining and drilling equipment, metalworking, specialty steels, electronics, heating, lighting and welding applications.
Its strategic value lies in the fact that it is difficult to replace in demanding industrial environments. For explorers, tungsten offers opportunity in historic skarn, vein and hard-rock systems where past work may have been limited by old models, shallow drilling or incomplete geochemistry. Modern structural geology, geophysics and 3D modelling can help reinterpret these systems and identify targets that earlier exploration may have missed.

Neodymium

Neodymium is one of the key rare earth elements behind high-performance permanent magnets. These magnets are essential in electric vehicles, wind turbines, robotics, drones, consumer electronics, industrial motors and many precision technologies that rely on compact, powerful and efficient motion.
Its importance is not only in the metal itself, but in the role it plays within the broader magnet rare earth supply chain. For explorers, neodymium creates a strong case for revisiting historical rare earth occurrences, carbonatites, alkaline systems and heavy mineral sands where older work may not have fully assessed individual rare earth distribution or today’s strategic value.

Praseodymium

Praseodymium is closely linked with neodymium and is commonly used alongside it in NdPr magnet materials. Together, they help produce the powerful permanent magnets required in electric vehicles, wind turbines, advanced electronics and other clean-technology applications.
For exploration, praseodymium should be considered as part of a broader rare earth opportunity rather than in isolation. Many historical exploration programs focused on total rare earth content, without fully recognising the value of specific magnet rare earths. Modern re-assaying, mineralogical analysis and deposit modelling can help identify projects where the true value of the rare earth basket was previously missed.

Dysprosium

Dysprosium adds another layer of strategic importance to the rare earth story. It is used in specialist permanent magnets where high performance must be maintained under heat and stress, making it valuable for electric vehicles, wind turbines, defence systems, aerospace technologies and advanced industrial automation.
Its exploration appeal comes from scarcity and performance. Heavy rare earths such as dysprosium are often less abundant and less evenly distributed than light rare earths, meaning older datasets may not have captured their significance. Revisiting historical rare earth projects with modern geochemistry, mineralogy and targeting tools may uncover value that was previously hidden within broad rare earth classifications.

Uranium

Uranium sits at the centre of the renewed global focus on energy security and reliable low-carbon power. As the fuel behind nuclear energy, it offers a pathway to large-scale, continuous electricity generation at a time when grids are being pushed by electrification, data centres, artificial intelligence and industrial growth.
From an exploration perspective, uranium is particularly well suited to a modern-data approach. Historic radiometric surveys, old drilling, basin studies and government datasets can be reprocessed using today’s geological modelling, remote sensing and targeting technologies. Areas once considered marginal or poorly understood may now reveal new potential when viewed through a modern exploration lens.

Scandium

Scandium represents a different kind of opportunity: a small-volume metal with potentially high impact. It is mainly used in aluminium-scandium alloys and solid oxide fuel cells, with applications across aerospace, lightweight transport, advanced manufacturing, electronics and energy technologies.
The case for scandium exploration lies in how easily it can be overlooked. It is often present as a by-product in laterites, nickel-cobalt systems and other deposits, but many historical programs did not prioritise it or assay for it in detail. As lightweight materials and high-performance alloys become more important, scandium offers explorers an opportunity to extract new value from old datasets and underappreciated mineral systems.
